Kids Incorporated relies on individuals, businesses and organizations to help us meet the financial resource needs of our program so we may provide the comprehensive, quality services we offer more than 300 children and families each year. Our largest program, Early Head Start, is funded through a federal grant requiring we raise 20% of the grant funds locally. We therefore have to raise $50,732.42 each month in matching funds! The grant and matching funds cover basic program needs and don't take into consideration increasing transportation costs, food prices, etc. that our organization has had to absorb recently. Donor Bill of Rights and Statement of Ethical Principles: Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), an organization that exists to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals and the profession, to promote high ethical standards in the fundraising profession and to preserve and enhance philanthropy and volunteerism. We support the organization's Donor Bill of Rights and strive to meet or exceed the standard of ethical principles set forth by the AFP. To read the Donor Bill of Rights and the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice which guide us in our philanthropic efforts, please see the attached document. Budd Bell Early Learning Endowment Fund for Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend: The Board of Directors established an endowment fund in honor of our founder, Budd Bell, at the Community Foundation of North Florida. The fund is designed to serve as a living legacy to Budd's commitment to help children and their families. Donated Goods or Services:Kids Incorporated accepts certain donated items which can be used to implement or enhance our programs. These in-kind donations may be used towards helping us meet our federal matching funds requirement. By donating items which are necessities to run our centers, you can not only help us raise federal matching funds, but you can also help us hold down expenses. For example, to provide diapers for infants and toddlers in our Early Head Start centers costs us $21,000 each program year. Thus, any donation of diapers enables us to maintain a quality program, hold down expenses, and raise required federal matching funds.
Landscape Design Service for Natural Playscape area: One of the more unique services we are looking for is for someone to donate their services and expertise to help us transform our Early Head Start center playgrounds into "natural playscapes". We want to create natural outdoor play environments that "tickle the imagination and surprise the senses". A natural playscape makes crative use of the entire area and is filled with art, hills, pathways, trees, herbs, open areas, sand, water, music and opportunities to run, climb, dig, pretend, hide, giggle, yell, or be silent. Specifically we are looking for an individual, business or organization to donate the design services to help us transform one of our playgrounds into a natural playscape, which will serve as a prototype for the others (while recognizing that each of the physical areas of our playgrounds are unique). We already have the traditional items playgrounds found in playgrounds for toddlers: sandbox, climbing area, tike path, gazebo, swing, etc. We are looking to convert these playgrounds into a more natural playscape. If you are interested donating design services, please contact Judie Miller at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
