Kids Incorporated's mission is: "Supporting and educating families and young children through quality early learning, health & family services."

Vision:

Our vision is: All children and families reach their full potential.

Overview:

Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend is a community organization serving children 0-3 years of age and pregnant women.  Founded in 1972 by the late Budd Bell in the basement of First Presbyterian Church in downtown Tallahassee, today we provide direct services to more than 300 children and their families in Jefferson, Leon and Madison counties.

Kids Incorporated is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization and is a certified-member agency of the United Way of the Big Bend.

Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, Kids Incorporated continues to be guided by the conscience of our late founder, Budd Bell.  Although Budd was honored by governors, former Secretary of State Colin Powell and was named one of Eckerd's Top 100 Women in America, she always believed that the best recognition for a job well done was a smile from a child.  An Early Head Start Policy Council provides guidance from parents impacted by our programs as well as community leaders.  A Health Services Advisory Board provides guidance in the health & disability program area as well.

Funding:

Kids Incorporated receives funding from the following sources:

  • United Way of the Big Bend
  • City of Tallahassee
  • Early Head Start (US Dept. of Health & Human Services)
  • USDA Food Program
  • Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend
  • parent fees
  • individual, corporate and organization donations

Pam DavisKids Incorporated's Executive Director/CEO is Pamela B. Davis.

Improving the quality of a child's life, one child at a time, has been the philosophic outlook of Pam Davis for the past 30 years.  She whole-heartedly believes in celebrating the successes of the families she serves, no matter how small.  This viewpoint has been applied in the numerous local and state positions she has held in our community since 1980 as a DCF Program Specialist and contract manager, child care licensing supervisor, state administrator and bureau chief for the Department of Children and Families, and for the past 22 years, as Executive Director/CEO of Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend.

Pam's commitment toward development, implementation and improvement of high quality early learning programs is practiced on a daily basis through her vision and direction of 6 Early Head Start sites.  It was Pam's vision that launched Kidsfest, a unique community-wide event celebrating family leisure and more recently, the conversion of our centers' playgrounds to natural playscapes, a creative approach of utilizing our national surroundings in conjunction with physical activity and cognition.

Pam is active in numerous Boards of Directors, locally and statewide, serving in a leadership position in most.  Pam is one of the founding members of the United Partners for Human Services (UPHS), serving as a Board Member for the past 7 years, including President.  She is a Class 20 graduate of Leadership Tallahassee.  She is well known for her leadership role in children's advocacy throughout the state of Florida.  Most recently, Pam served on the Statewide Child Care Standards and Improvements Work Group, appointed by then-DCF Secretary George Sheldon.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Southern Scholarship Foundation.

A graduate of Florida State University, she earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Early Childhood Education.
