Takesha and her daughter Lauryn

We’d love to introduce you to Takesha and her daughter Lauryn!

Takesha applied to our program for Lauryn in 2015. They were living in Making Miracles Group Home after relocating from Panama City. Takesha was unemployed and starting over in Tallahassee with the help of Debra Harris, who runs a faith-based center for young women.  After Lauryn enrolled at Brandon’s Place in the summer of 2016, Takesha moved into an apartment and continued to build stability with assistance from our program’s focus on education, health, and family services.

By the end of 2016 she started working as a substitute with Kids Incorporated. Through referrals and finding resources on her own, Takesha overcame obstacles and continued to meet her family goals. She and Lauryn have now moved into a more stable apartment and mom is working as a Center Aide at Brandon’s Place.

We’re proud to report that Lauryn is currently a bright, outgoing, strong toddler who will turn 3 in May and be more than ready to move on to Head Start!
