Anzola’s Story

When Anzola became pregnant, she knew she would benefit from a program that could help her through her pregnancy and maximize the chances for a healthy delivery and a healthy baby.  She turned to Kids Incorporated’s Prenatal Program, which is part of the Early Head Start (EHS) program.  A resident of Jefferson County, Anzola applied at the Jefferson County Early Head Start center and was enrolled in the program.  She was able to attend family engagement meetings, meet with the Family Advocate at the center and talk with the Health & Disability Coordinator.  After Baby Nolan arrived, her Family Advocate and the Health & Disability Coordinator visited her at her home.  All families who participate in the prenatal program receive a home visit within 2 weeks of delivery.

Anzola was able to enroll Nolan into the EHS program at our Jefferson County center.  Knowing that Nolan was safe and secure in a quality early learning program in a classroom with a 1 teacher-to-4 children ratio, helped alleviate any fears Anzola had about leaving him during the day  to seek a nursing degree – something Anzola had wanted to pursue.  It was not an easy time caring for a young son nights and weekends and pursing a Nursing Degree, but Anzola was dedicated.  We’re happy to report she graduated from Nursing School!
